University of Malawi : Chancellor College

The Curriculum and Teaching Studies Department is one of the departments under the Faculty of Education.The other department under this Faculty is the Education Foundations Department. The Faculty of Education offers the following four programmes:
a) Bachelor of Education
b) University Certificate in Education
c) Master of Arts in Education
d) Master of Education
The first three programmes are designed for both pre-service and in-service education and training of teachers for Malawi secondary schools, with concentration on subject and subject-method competence in two of the following:

English, Chichewa, French, Art, History, Biology, Physical Science, Mathematics, Bible Knowledge, Home Economics , Geography, Chemistry and Physics.

The Masters programmes are offered to candidates who possess a relevant first degree. They require intensive scholarly specialism in one area of education curriculum, and are directed towards the production of the country's high level manpower needs in education.

The Faculty also participates in a range of other in-service and training courses in co-operation with constituent colleges of the University, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and other Ministries, and the Malawi National Examination Board.
