ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE FIRST 2023 UNIVERSITY OF MALAWI CONGREGATION
The University of Malawi wishes to inform its graduands and the general public of the arrangements for its first 2023 congregation which will be held on Wednesday, 5th April, 2023 in the Great Hall at University of Malawi in Zomba from 7:00 a.m.
The University wishes to further inform the graduands and the general public that it shall hold two streams of graduation ceremonies on the same day. The first stream will be held from 7:00 am while the second will start from 1:00 pm.
Graduands and the general public should note that, the President of the Republic of Malawi and the Chancellor of the University, His Excellency the State President, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, has delegated the Vice Chancellor, Professor Samson Sajidu to preside over both streams of the graduation ceremonies.
Academic awards shall be conferred to graduands in the following programmes:

GRADUATION PROCESSING FEE
Academic dress for the Congregation shall be available for hire from Tuesday, 28th March, 2023 from graduands’ respective universities at the following cost:
(a) Diploma Set K16, 000
(b) Bachelors Set K20, 000
(c) Masters Set K60, 000
(d) PhD Set K80, 000
All graduands must return their academic dress immediately after the graduation ceremony. Any unreturned academic dress shall attract a penalty
fee equivalent to the graduation processing fee of the respective gown for each subsequent day of delay payable before the release of the certificate.
Graduands with outstanding fees balances have not been included in this graduation.
DRESS REHEARSALS
Dress rehearsals for the Congregation will be held on Tuesday, 4th April, 2023 as follows:
a. FIRST CONGREGATION: from 8:00 am in the Great Hall at University of Malawi in Zomba.
b. SECOND CONGREGATION: from 1:00 pm in the Great Hall at University of Malawi in Zomba.
All graduands are required to come in their graduation attire and are asked to be punctual. Only those that attend rehearsals shall be allowed to graduate.
PHOTOGRAPHERS
The University has designated a specific area for all photographers who wish to operate from inside and/or outside the Great Hall. All photographers and businesses shall be required to pay to the Cashier on the day of rehearsals as follows:
a. Inside the Great Hall K50, 000
b. Outside the Great Hall K30, 000
c. Other businesses K20,000
