A Day of Inspiration: Campinas Secondary School visits the University of Malawi

On 7th December, 2023, approximately 80 students from Campinas Private Secondary School, situated in the district of Mulanje, embarked on a visit to the University of Malawi to gain inspiration and insight. The group consisted of students ranging from Form 1 to Form 4.

Accompanying them were dedicated parents and teachers who joined on this educational excursion. Mr. Grey Chasuka, from the UNIMA's Marketing and Communication team, along with student ambassadors, extended a warm welcome to the visiting group.

Mr. Chasuka provided a concise yet comprehensive overview of the University, detailing its various programs and emphasizing its distinctive qualities. The students expressed their delight at being present on the University grounds, and the visit served as a source of motivation, inspiring them to strive diligently in their academic pursuits with the goal of one day becoming part of the University community.

Mr. Tiyamike Goliati, the director of Campinas Private Secondary School, conveyed appreciation for the hospitable reception and informative tour. He expressed thanks to the Vice Chancellor and the entire management team, acknowledging their commitment to providing high-quality education. Mr. Goliati encouraged the secondary school students to work hard, emphasizing that they were capable of achieving the same success as the University students they were seeing. He highlighted that the University students' achievements were within reach, encouraging the Campinas students to aspire to walk through the corridors of the University. Mr. Goliati underscored the importance of collaboration, expressing a desire for a partnership where the University could send students from the School of Education to the secondary school for teaching practice. This collaboration, he stressed, would serve as a motivating force for the students and strengthen educational ties between the institutions.

Village Headman Tipoti from the area of Senior Chief Mabuka in Mulanje, who accompanied the group as a parent, expressed sincere appreciation and admiration for the University's infrastructure and the discipline demonstrated by its students. He pledged to return to his community and actively encourage children to work hard while urging parents to support their children's aspirations of attending university.

The visit not only expanded perspectives but also sparked aspirations, fostering a spirit of academic ambition among the students of Campinas Private Secondary School.
