My core research interests revolve around the thematic areas of families, youth, and children, as well as older persons. I am also an ardent qualitative researcher with expertise in the use of NVivo software for data management and analysis.,

Profile

Dr Mayeso Lazaro is an Educator, Researcher, and Consultant. He is the former Head of Human Ecology and Agricultural Sciences Department at the University of Malawi. Mayeso holds an interdisciplinary Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Human Geography and Social Sciences from the University of Hull, United Kingdom, a Master of Science (MSc) in Family Ecology and Practice from the University of Alberta, Canada, and a Bachelor of Education Humanities from the University of Malawi, Malawi. As an Educator, Mayeso trains undergraduate students at the University of Malawi in various courses, inter alia: Program Design and Evaluation; Family and Community; Family Economics; Family Theories and Approaches; Research Methods; and Research Project and Applied Statistics. He has also taught the Household Environmental Management module in the Master of Environmental Sciences (MES) programme at the same institution. As a Researcher, Mayeso’s interests generally fall in the thematic areas of families, youth, children, and older persons. He is an ardent qualitative researcher with expertise in the use of NVivo software for data management and analysis. Mayeso has participated in several projects, including: 1) Child to Child Project (Learning through Play) ($761,165 as a Co-Principal Investigator, being funded by IDRC; 2) Complementary Feeding Bowl (IYCF) Project (January 2022-December 2022; $135,000) as a Co-Principal Investigator, being funded by UNICEF; 3) the Pro-Farmer Project (2017 to 2020; $120,000; funded by OSISA) as Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and Data Manager; and 4) Energy Provision in Developing Countries: Understanding the Private Sector Role and Challenges of Private Sector Participation in Scaling Up Energy Access and Uptake in Uganda, Tanzania, and Malawi (2020-2021; funded by GCRF). Mayeso has also been a member of various international professional societies and organizations, including: The British Society of Gerontology (BSG); African Research on Ageing Network (AFRAN); Royal Geographical Society (RGS) with the Institute of British Geographers (IBG); International Social Sciences Council; The Southern Childhoods Network; Research Network for Children, Youth, and Families; and the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR).
